celebrate our military kids!
It's almost time for our annual District 10 Fiesta,

party straight to y'all with live entertainment from
Mariachi Damas de Jalisco, Mary Lou's Dance Company, DJ Future

together! Register here to donate!

corner, the Northeast Neighborhood Alliance is hosting a Candidate
Forum, Monday, April 17, 2023, at 7 PM at the Tool Yard (10303 Tool

District 10
Neighborhood Spotlight:
Meet Pastor
Robert Bennett!
We
were honored to have Pastor Robert Bennett of District 10's Madison Hills Baptist Church for leading us in prayer at last week's
Council meeting. Pastor Bennett is nothing shy of extraordinary. He
has served as the Senior Pastor of Madison Hills Baptist Church here in
District 10 for 7 years. While there, he has implemented
programs that ensure their community never goes
hungry, including partnering with Madison High School to
deliver food to homeless students once a month and hosting free
enrichment events. Thank you for constantly serving District
10, Pastor!

Zero Percent
Interest Loans Now Available for San Antonio Small Businesses!
The City of San Antonio, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of
Commerce (SAHCC), and LiftFund have secured $500,000 in the FY23
Budget for the City of San Antonio’s 0% Interest Program,
a program aimed to support the growth of San Antonio small businesses,
especially in light of recent economic challenges.
Small businesses located in or relocating to San Antonio
city limits can apply for up to $100,000 in 0% interest funding
through the program, double what has been offered by the program in the
past. The funding can be used for startups as well as the majority
of regular business expenses including inventory, payroll, equipment, and
working capital.
According to the program website, the initiative
prioritizes funding small businesses looking to hire additional
staff, in efforts to help create jobs in the city. Those that have not
received a 0% interest LiftFund loan in the past two years also have
priority, to help those that need support the most.

Ready to Work
Program Expands Eligibility to
Include Bexar County Military Community!
The City of San Antonio’s workforce initiative, Ready
to Work, announces the launch of a pilot program that expands Ready to
Work’s focus to prioritize community members connected to military
service living throughout Bexar County.
"This expansion of the Ready to Work program is a great
opportunity for our community to tap into a large, talented pool of
nearly 4,300 military members assigned across Joint Base San Antonio who
transition out of the military each year,” said San Antonio Mayor Ron
Nirenberg. “In addition, for the approximately 322,000 veterans in the
greater San Antonio area, this is an opportunity for them to train for
good-paying jobs and will encourage them to remain in San Antonio.”
The new pilot program allows active-duty service members who
are transitioning to civilian life and who currently reside on military
installations or housing located in Bexar County, but outside San Antonio
city limits, to enroll in Ready to Work.
Military-connected individuals interested in participating
can learn more about Ready to Work at the readytoworksa.com website,
which will be available for pilot program applications upon the launch of
the initiative on May 1.
Eligibility:
- Active-duty service members transitioning to civilian
life within 12 months of separation.
- Active-duty military spouses and dependents 18 and
older (18-26 for dependent
children).
- Reservists and National Guard members.
- Veterans and disabled veterans.
- Veteran spouses and dependents age 18 and older (18-26
for dependent children).
