November 16, 2015

Dear Neighbors,

City Council passed two ordinances this week that we are particularly proud of. The first ordinance allows the City, Bexar County, and Spurs Sports & Entertainment to begin negotiations for the purchase of Toyota Field. Not only does this increase our chances of hosting an MLS team here in our district, but the purchase itself directly benefits Morgan's Wonderland. Another ordinance that passed specified that all high rise buildings in San Antonio that currently are without fire sprinklers have twelve years to install a sprinkler system. We have asked that this process be completed as early as possible. With memories of the Wedgewood fire still fresh in our minds, I am proud that the City is pushing forward with raising the standards for public safety.

Save the date! December 7th is our annual District 10 Holiday Gathering. It will be held at the Northern Hills Golf Course.  We will be sponsoring a toy drive during this time, and are accepting new, unwrapped toys to benefit A World for Children, a 501c3 nonprofit benefiting foster families in the San Antonio area. We've included more information about the organization and families in this newsletter. If you are not able to attend the Holiday Gathering but would like to donate toys, we will accept all toy donations at our field office every day up to the event. Please be sure to call our office to coordinate drop offs.

As a reminder, the Northeast Neighborhood Alliance will meet tonight, November 16th, at 7PM in the new Northeast Senior Center.

Thank you for staying actively involved in our community and for allowing me to represent the best district in San Antonio.

Sincerely,

Mike Gallagher
City Councilman District 10
