Community Development (NCD) Week is an annual celebration of the Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships
Program (HOME). This year, NCD Week is held April 22-26, 2019 and
the theme is “CDBG & HOME Programs Make Communities Better
Places to Live and Work."
During this week, there is nation-wide advocacy for federal funding
in support of the CDBG and HOME Programs. The City of San Antonio’s
Neighborhood and Housing Services Department, in collaboration with
our affordable housing and community development partners, will be
highlighting San Antonio’s successes with CDBG and HOME-funded

Animal Care Services has a new program
called Shelter Paws. This program allows a dog to go for a walk in
the park, go for a hike, or go home and watch a movie with YOU. You
can make a big difference in these dogs lives by
giving them a break from their stay at the shelter and this will
also help promote them for adoption all for a couple of hours
Want to join? Participants must be atlesat 18 years old and have a
photo iD, have a reliable vehcle, and be dog friendly! ACS
will suggest friendly places to hang out with these awesome
Night Out 2019 is Tuesday, October 1! NNO is an annual
community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community
partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods
safer, more caring places to live and work.
The first 200 organizations to register their event will receive a free

Earth Day San Antonio is an
Official Fiesta San Antonio event and is put on by the Westside
Development Corporation and The Earth Day Committee. The event
seeks to educate San Antonio residents and visitors on the value of
protecting the environment and on practices that can preserve or

educational round table series on the impact each of us has on
San Antonio's eco-system and how the Climate Action and
Adaption Plan applies to our communities water needs.

WaterSaver Saturday is a FREE
half day of mini-workshops on gardening, permaculture, low impact
design, landscaping, flood mitigation, native plants, pollinator
gardens, rainwater harvesting and more! There will be free plants,
gardening tools and other goodies at each one-hour workshop.
Breakfast and snacks will be served. An ask-the-experts forum and
gardening & sustainability showcase will follow the workshops.
